The puzzling disappearance of Ruthanne Robert in Yosemite National Park
Ruthanne Ruppert, disappeared August 14, 2000, Yosemite National Park, California
On August 14, 2000, Ruthanne Ruppert, 49, had been treated for an eye infection at the Yosemite Medical Clinic in the Curry Village area around noon.
She planned on hiking from Yosemite Falls to the Foresta area for the day and left sometime during the afternoon. She was never seen again.
She was 5'5, 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Ruthanne had a prosthetic eye and the fact she had an eye infection in her only eye may have been a factor in her disappearance.
Despite a substantial search, the only clue discovered, 8 years later in 2008, was her backpack. It was found in a drainage area of Fireplace Creek. There was no other sign of her and her disappearance remains unsolved. Information on Ruthanne’s disappearance is very limited.
